Global Cities After Dark puts the spotlight on Sydney’s future nightlife
Global Cities After Dark returns for its 3rd year on Friday 15 November 2019 – a forum pioneering the emerging field of night time governance, featuring some of the world’s leading figures in nightlife, city planning, policy-making and health and safety.
Global creatives and nightlife figures at the frontline of night time governance will join forces with domestic experts, local and state government to focus on future solutions following a challenging five years for Sydney’s nightlife.
2019 international speakers include House of Yes’ Creative Director Kae Burke and Diversity Manager Jacqui Rabkin; Business Development Manager, Nightlife and Entertainment Sector, from San Francisco’s Office of Economic and Workforce Development Ben Van Houten; HafenCity University Hamburg’s Professor of Cultural Theory and Cultural Practice Gesa Ziemer and City Data Scientist Holger Prang; and Senior Prevention Worker Judith Noijen from Amsterdam’s Jellinek (an expert health organisation specialising in alcohol, drugs and addiction).
The first announced domestic speakers include former Federal Police Commissioner Mick Palmer; Australian Festivals Association and Fuzzy Director Adelle Robinson; Drug Free Australia’s Gary Christian; Harm Reduction Australia President Gino Vumbaca; Unharm’s Founder and Executive Director Will Tregoning; Activist, DJ and Event Producer Ayebatonye Abrakasa; Oxford Art Factory’s Mark Gerber; Kensington Street’s Daria Grove and Divsion Agency’s Kiran Da Silva. More domestic speakers will be announced in September.
