The LGBTQI community has long been sharing stories, creating and writing their histories, disrupting and transforming conventional ideas about narrative, family and community.
Queerstories is a storytelling series at Giant Dwarf Theatre, featuring a diverse lineup of Australian LGBTQI icons and new faces. The show has sold out every month since it began in September 2016. Host Maeve Marsden is a writer, producer and theatre maker. She has written for a wide range of publications including Sydney Morning Herald and The Guardian, and this year she edited the ABC’s Sydney Mardi Gras 40th Anniversary Magazine. As a child of same-sex parents, Maeve is an avid speaker and writer about the rights of diverse families.
The show won Best Spoken Word at Sydney Fringe in 2018 and has welcomed onto its stage the likes of Hannah Gadsby, Justice Michael Kirby, Matthew Mitcham OAM, Jordan Raskopoulos and Simon Hunt aka Pauline Pantsdown.
Become a part of the storytelling at the next Queerstories on April 6, followed by the Sydney Comedy Festival edition on May 4. For full event listing and more information, visit https://giantdwarf.com.au/events/queerstories-2018/.
